Hi, I’m Abby. I am a therapist, author, speaker, executive leadership coach, and educator. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist who works with clients who reside in Texas and Michigan and a licensed clinical marriage and family therapist who works with clients who reside in Maryland. Throughout my career I have used my education and experiences to help others develop personally and professionally. I consider myself a lifetime learner who loves learning formally through research and training and informally from my interactions with people. I have lived and traveled all over the world, and love to experience new places and cultures. In addition to being a wife, mom, and grandmother, I am also a transracial adoptee and a birth mom and have navigated the reunion journey for both those identities.
My primary therapy specialties are serving professional women navigating both career and personal life transitions, working within adoption with focus on transracial adoptees, birth mothers, adolescents and young adults, racial identity development and racial trauma, and relationships. I have been trained in Brainspotting, internal family systems, and narrative therapy and believe that the client is the expert in his/her own life. I consider myself diversity focused, and trauma based.
After years in education as a college professor, middle school teacher, and principal, my joy is working with adults of all ages and stages. My ideal client is reflective and purposeful. My clients are typically young adults transitioning to careers and learning to “adult”, successful professional women navigating life transitions, adoptees of all ages discovering their identities and processing trauma, and birth moms processing post adoption. I support my clients through reflection, trauma processing, self-discovery, and identity development so that they can embrace mental clarity and feel free to live purposefully.

I completed my Master of Education in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling from Lamar University in 2022. I also hold a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction from UNLV, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Goucher College, a Master of Science in industrial & organizational psychology with certification in evidenced based leadership coaching from Walden University, and a Bachelor of Science in African American History and Sociology from Towson University.
