Important Questions

Do you accept Insurance?

We do not accept insurance because we do not believe it is the best client care. This allows you to direct your own treatment and allows more time to be spent in direct interaction with clients, rather than billing and answering to insurance companies. Fees for the majority of services are determined by a sliding-scale based on annual household income. You are welcome to request reimbursement from your insurance carrier directly; information to assist in your appeal will be provided at your request. We also accept HSA payments.
Disclosure: Your rights and protections against surprise medical bills  and Your right to receive a good faith estimate of expected charges

What should I do in an Emergency?

The 988 Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals in the United States. Call, text, or chat anytime you or a loved one is feeling suicidal.

Because our counselors are usually busy with clients, if there is urgent crisis, it is best for you to call the hotline or get yourself to the nearest emergency room.

Where are you located?

Counseling at the Green House in Indianapolis is conveniently located south of Broad Ripple between College Avenue and Meridian Street. Approximately 10 minutes from downtown, 15 minutes from Lawrence, 20 minutes from Carmel, 25 minutes from Zionsville, 30 minutes from Westfield, 30 minutes from Greenwood, and 30 minutes from Avon.

We have a satellite office in Alexandria, Indiana (Madison County)

Telehealth videoconference sessions are also available for clients located throughout Indiana, Kentucky, Texas, Massachusettes, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

What is the cancellation policy?

All appointments must be cancelled 48hours in advance or you will still be responsible for the appointment fee. Only half the fee will be charged between 24-48 hours prior to the appointment. If less than 24 hours notice is given, you will be responsible for the full appointment fee. Emergency situations do occasionally arise, and this failed appointment fee may be waived; however, because there is often a wait for appointment times, it is important for those that need appointments that we maintain this policy. Every effort will be made to respect your time to the same degree that has been requested of you.

If you are feeling ill and would like to switch to a telehealth appointment, that option is always available to you. Please text or email your counselor directly to make that switch.

What is the inclement weather / illness policy?

Please feel free to email your counselor directly to switch any appointment to a telehealth meeting. We want you to always be safe driving, so do not hesitate to take advantage of videoconferencing and stay cozy at home. If your counselor cannot drive safely or needs to switch to a telehealth meeting, we will let you know as early as possible. We ask that if any time you are experiencing a fever that you switch to a telehealth appointment. For symptoms such as a cough or sneezing, we ask that you switch to telehealth or wear a mask to your appointment.

What are the limits of confidentiality?

Your confidentiality is always a priority in this process. Your identity, personal information, and the topics you discuss will be protected with the highest standards available. Without your written permission, information about you shall not be shared. Even after written permission is granted, it may be revoked at any time. If there is concern of danger or harm to yourself and/or others, we are legally required to report this information to the authorities to ensure the safety of all. In the case that you are threatening harm to yourself, we may be obliged to contact loved ones to provide protection and/or seek more intensive treatment. We may also be required to take protective actions if it is believed that you are threatening harm to another. These actions may include notifying the potential victim, contacting police, or more intensive treatment. We are obliged by law to report any suspicion or allegation of abuse or neglect of a child, elderly or disabled person.

Email should primarily be used for appointment re-scheduling and is not the media for sensitive, therapeutic material. If you choose to communicate by email at some point in our work together, please be aware that email is not completely confidential. All emails are retained in the logs of the internet service providers from which it is sent and received. While under normal circumstances these logs are not viewed, they are, in theory, available to be read by the system administrator(s) of the internet service provider. If more than ten minutes per week is spent reading and responding to your emails, we reserve the right to bill this time on a prorated basis.

While our counselors do everything in our power to maintain your confidentiality, it is important to recognize that there may be a limit to confidentiality when using telehealth technology, depending on your location and connection. You are responsible for ensuring privacy in your space. We recommend using headphones or earbuds as one privacy protection. For more information on the HIPAA Privacy Rule and Notice click here
